How to use Excel Addition Formula or SUM Formula in Excel?

Excel Addition Formula Definition:

Excel Addition Formula uses to add the values. It adds values in a column, individual cells etc. We can add values in excel without using any formula with “+” symbol as well.

Formula: =SUM(number1, [number2], [number3]……)

Explanation with Example Questions:

After teaching the concept of AND Function to her children, Brenda decides to teach the use of the SUM formula in Excel. So, she gave some questions to both her children to teach the concept.

  • Find the sum of column1 and column2 without using the formula.
  • Find the sum of column1 and column2 by using the SUM formula.
  • Find the sum of column1 and column2 by using the SUBTOTAL formula.

Formula: =E6+F6

Here “+” adds the values in two different cells,i.e., E6 and F6. To apply the formula in the whole column, drag down from the bottom right of the G6 cell to the G12 cell.

Answer: 35

Formula: =SUM(E6,F6)
